Healthy Minds Practitioner

Michael is a Healthy Minds Practitioner with the North Coast Primary Health Network. This program is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and utilises ATAPS (Access to Allied Psychological Services) and Better Access funding. The program provides services to assist those in the community who find it hard to access mental health services and who have an Australian Government Health Care Card or are suffering severe financial hardship. It is designed to provide assistance to children, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander’s and people at risk of suicide, self-harm or homelessness.

Healthy Minds is managed locally by the Healthy North Coast Network (previously known as Medicare Local). http://ncphn.org.au

We work in partnership with local service providers to assist clients in need. Please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss how we can provide further assistance to your agency.

Did you know?

A GP referral to a psychologist under Medicare is not valid for a specified period of time or for a calendar year as is often the case for GP referrals to specialists. Rather, it is valid for the stated number of services, up to a maximum of six services. If the client ceases treatment prior to the completion of services, a report must be provided to the referrer when it is clear the service has ended.

If the client represents at a later date and completes the course of treatment, the psychologist must write another report to the referring practitioner.
